How to use this site

Start with the market, then compare the book.

Sports betting gets easier to evaluate when you separate three questions: what are you betting, what price are you getting, and which sportsbook gives you the cleanest way to place and manage that wager?

  • 1Understand the market. Learn moneylines, spreads, totals and props before comparing flashy promos.
  • 2Compare the price. A better line can matter more over time than a one-time bonus headline.
  • 3Check the platform. App stability, payout options and legal availability all affect the real experience.
The original rankings, state coverage and guide structure remain unchanged below. This new section simply makes the homepage more useful before you reach the comparison table.

Why trust this site

We cover 19 books. Not every offshore site that emails us.

If a sportsbook isn't licensed in a US state, it doesn't get a review - not even a bad one.

Responsible betting

Set the bankroll before the bet.

A good sportsbook or a good line does not make gambling risk-free. Use deposit limits, set a session budget and never increase stake size just to recover a previous loss.

Questions people ask us most

Is online sports betting legal in my state? +
It depends on the state. Most states now allow some form of legal betting, but the rules range from full online access to retail-only sportsbooks to no legal betting at all. Use the state map above to check your state specifically.
How do I know a sportsbook is actually licensed? +
Every book we review discloses its licensing regulator in its footer and app store listing. We verify the license directly with the state gaming authority before a book is added to our rankings.
Do sign-up bonuses really pay out that amount? +
The headline number is real, but almost always comes with playthrough requirements and bonus-bet structures rather than instant cash. Each review breaks down the actual terms so you know what you're signing up for.
How does this site make money? +
We earn a commission when readers sign up through some of our links. Commissions never influence a book's score - scores come from our published testing criteria, and that's true whether or not we have a commercial relationship with the book.
What should I do if my betting feels out of control? +
Stop and reach out for support. Every US sportsbook offers self-exclusion and deposit limit tools, and free, confidential help is available any time through the National Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-GAMBLER.
